The Vidya Mandir School, Parents’ Association and Vidya Mandir Alumni come together to build new toilets, for the Senior Boys & Girls section.

For the first time, Vidya Mandir School, the Parents’ Association and the Vidya Mandir Alumni came together to completely re-build the girls’ and the boys’ toilets at the Senior School section. This essential requirement was addressed to coincide with the 60th year celebrations at the Vidya Mandir School, Mylapore.

To take advantage of the summer holidays in April –June 2015, the members quickly worked together in April 2015 to complete this toilet reconstruction project.

Mr Parthasarathy (VM Alumni) from Arunachalam , contractors and Mr Raghuram( parent), architect, from C. R. Narayana Rao & Co., were awarded the work, and estimate for Rs 34 Lakhs was approved by the joint committee.

The senior section boys’ and girls’ toilets were completed well on time, to make these available when the School opened in July this year. From the students’ feedback, we understand that the school children are pleased with the new toilets. We expect the final costs to be much less and any savings from the approved budget will be applied towards re-building of toilets in the Primary section and also to consider provision of lift for the School.
